A simple definition of competitor analysis is knowing who your competitors are and learning what they are doing and how they are doing. However, there is more to competitor analysis than this. Competitor analysis is a method to stay ahead of your competitors. Depending on your type of your industry, you will have to use different kinds of tools for competitor analysis. By the way, what kind of tools do you use for competitor analysis?

Seeing exactly what your competitors are doing: what are their writing about, scanning their websites and sitemaps, seeing their estimate rankings in ahrefs, studying their Google Business Profile etc.

It's one of the most important steps in doing SEO for our clients, as we need to understand their position in the industry and main gaps in competitors' marketing to exploit.
