Is Long-Form Content Dead on Social Media?

Long form content has always been on the top when it comes to ranking on search engines. However, social media is a different platform and might need different kinds of content.
Do audiences still have the attention span for long posts or videos on social media? How do you balance depth with brevity in your social media content? What has worked better for you—short, snappy content or detailed, value-packed posts?

I do not think long form content is dead, in fact I feel that there is a growing need for long form content as the short content is never good for providing accurate information or detail guide on some topics. If short form content was replacing long form content, we wouldn't have seen Tiktok allowing videos upto 60 minutes.

I believe that long-form content is still effective on social media, particularly on YouTube. Personally, I enjoy long-form content, especially if it offers valuable information that I’ve been seeking. I find it worthwhile to watch such videos. However, the success of long-form content depends on the platform, as it doesn’t work well on all social media networks.

I wouldn't consider it as being dead. The issue is that long - form content might be lacking in some keywords that should capture the interests of the readers to keep reading for long. So, as long as they were able to do that, I wouldn't have much to bother about as more people will definitely have a read.

I don’t think long-form content is dead; it’s just less common on platforms like TikTok or Twitter. On places like LinkedIn or Facebook, long-form content can still work if it's valuable, engaging, and well-written.
