Dark Theme or Light Theme on Forums

I like light theme because on forums you will have to read the posts and interact with the posts. You do reading and writing and when you do that black letters against the white background makes it easy. However, for some people dark theme is better. Do you like dark theme or light theme?

Light theme always. Dark themes were interesting years ago, but then, when we delved more into usability, we realized it's actually not such a good idea to use them.

That's right, light theme makes website appear good. Dark themes show something sinister. However, I have heard some people saying light themes hurt their eyes.

I prefer light themes. Dark themes are decent, but they’re not my main preference.

I believe websites, especially forums, should allow users to choose between a light and dark theme.

I also believe that forum owners should allow the users to choose their own styles and choose between light or dark theme. I like light theme, this does not mean everyone likes light theme. In fact I know a lot of people who like dark theme.

I like to have the option for both. Nowadays it’s so important to have both. It’s even standard to most decent softwares like Xenforo, Invision community and even vBulletin if we have to add it.

I remember a time when we only could have one theme, luckily that’s long gone now.

I also like to have the light theme default. But for niches like gaming, it’s the other wy around.

For some niches certain theme suits better. For instance dark themes looks great for gaming communities, however, for general discussion forums light theme seems to give better appearance. However, it is also about personal preference and allowing users to adjust their own style is better than forcing them with your default theme
