Competition in eCommerce

Just like in the real world business, ecommerce also has a lot of competition. One of the major competition is posed by the big players in the market. Big ecommerce businesses have a lot of money to do SEO and digital marketing, that's why most of the time small ecommerce businesses fail. How do you compete with the big players?

To effectively compete with larger players in the e-commerce business, it is vital to concentrate on a specialized niche rather than attempting to sell a diverse selection of products. Select a niche with less competition and target a certain audience. Choose high-quality or one-of-a-kind things that are not readily available elsewhere. Optimize your site for search engines to boost its ranking by utilizing relevant keywords. Don't forget to boost your social media presence to attract a larger audience.

Well said. We might not be able to outperform platforms like Amazon if we try to sell the same products that Amazon is selling. However, if you focus on certain niche and sell specialized products we might be able to sell more products on that niche as compared to Amazon. It is all about branding and SEO.

If you want to compete with these large companies I think you will first have to be patient, because making a place for yourself in such a competitive market is not going to be easy, you can try to sell in a similar way to what large companies do, to try to gain some traction, also look if these companies fail in something in their service and you could improve it.

Target a market and localize your e commerce offsprings to suit the needs of that market entirely. That's what Amazon wouldn't do and that is what would give your e commerce business an edge. You can combine two close states and target their market and offer specifics that they need. People in that state would rather patronize you than the big players like Amazon.
