You can create a free or self hosted website and publish your content. You can also use content aggregator like Medium to publish your content. What are the benefits or drawbacks of using sites like Medium compared to your own site?

You get better exposure by using content aggregator. It might not be possible to reach hundreds of thousands people through your own website but on a site like Medium, it is possible.

Unless you are a business or someone who wants yo build a big brand you don't need a website. You can use content aggregate to publish your content, you can even publish on social media and also build your brand through social media. A website needs traffic and most people cannot build traffic

This is the reality. A lot of people create a website and then end up shutting it in less than 6 months because they cannot build traffic. However, social media and content aggregator already have registered users and you can reach then easily. But I still favor having your own website

Better exposure, right! Since we might not easily rank on searches and night not have too many followers on social media, ot might not be possible to reach a lot of people through a website. But I guess, with content aggregator also you still need followers.

Yeah, you need followers but it is just like social media where it is easier to get followers compared to search engines where building visibility is difficult. If you have written good, it will not be difficult to get followers and readers.

Creating your own website offers complete control over design, branding, and content, but it requires time, effort, and ongoing maintenance. Using a content aggregator is quicker and easier, but it limits customization and control, often relying on third-party platforms.

It will always be better to create your own website, it gives you the freedom to do what you want, reach as many people as you want and scale as high as you want.

Creating your own website offers full control, allowing you to customize content, reach a broader audience, and scale without limits. It’s a powerful way to build your brand, grow traffic, and monetize effectively.

I totally agree, there's nothing better than creating your own website. You can grow as much as you want and in the way you want. It's highly recommended.

I am not sure if content aggregators would magically drive content to a person's content. However, using content aggregators could offer various advantages for sure in case if your content is really persuasive. Having said that, there are obviously various advantages of owning your own website. If a person owns a website, then he has to be patient in regards to getting traffic generated. Generally it takes several years to generate traffic. In fact, most websites never generate traffic because they simply cannot complete with other websites that have been generating massive traffic for a long time. As a result of that, many people resort to submitting content on content aggregators.

You need money to build a website, however, content aggregator are free. It is really hard to build traffic on your website but on content aggregator you can easily get traffic. If you follow someone and comment on his article, he will get back to yours. Reciprocation works well on content aggregator. For starters, content aggregator works well. I wrote for content aggregator for 5 years before I build my own site
