Paid Staffs or Volunteers

Do you have paid staff or volunteers on your forums? I do not like to have volunteers working on my forum because volunteers do not have any kind of commitments, you also cannot force them do do certain things. Therefore you need paid staff. I do not have paid staff on my forum but in the paid I had paid staff.

In that case you need to be ready to invest from your pocket. If you are not paying your staff, you will also not have staff who are actually diligent to your site

You can certainly run a forum entirely through volunteers but the main point is whether they work sincerely or not. If your volunteering staff are not working properly, what is the point of having staff? The main point is whether your staff do their jobs or not

If there is no motivation for those who are working in a community to be actively dedicated in doing so, they will not take the job serious. This is why I prefer working with paid staff because they will know there is a reason why they should be committed to the project.

Well, just because you have paid staff does not means you will get a good staff. A lot of forum owners I know have paid staff and they are not doing anything except making few posts once in a while. Whether you pay or not, you need staff that are seriously interested in your forum.

Personally, I don't like working as a volunteer. Although, I've done it before for a friend of mine who didn't appreciate it in any way because when I was in a tight spot and asked for his help, he couldn't help me even when he could. Since then, I don't any favors of being a volunteer for anyone.

Free staff can only do little. Since they are not paid even the owner of the forums cannot say much to them. It is more of volunteer work, so what lever they do will have to be accepted.

I think that paid work is always better because when they need the money and you are paying them, they have a legal obligation to complete and fulfill the commitment of the work you have to offer them.

This is also my sentiments too. You can't question or make any demands on a staff who's working as a volunteer that doesn't get paid. If it's someone being paid, he must deliver or lose the job and even refund the payment if he was paid upfront.

I also believe that getting paid for your efforts is much better. It is also much better from an employer's point of view as well. When you hire someone and pay them, they will certain do the job seriously. Volunteering is an optional thing. A person may engage in volunteering activities or they may quite whenever they want. Volunteers are not hired by anyone. In fact, they choose to engage in volunteering out of their own choice.
