SaaS products are certainly on rise and these products are basically sold on subscription model, instead of one time price. A lot of digital products and services are also being sold for subscription and subscription based ecommerce is certainly on rise.

I would prefer to subscribe to a digital service. Gives me the option to get rid of it if I don't find value in it. If it is a digital product though, I would prefer to buy it individually but if course after due diligence.
