I think newspaper ads are still effective medium to build a brand and generate sales. Even though people find audio video media attractive, a lot of people tend to forget the ad but with print ad, the memory seems to be strong.
As ya now, advertising in newspapers is a complete waste of time and resources. People don't read newspapers any longer. The reach with newspaper adverts has shrunk so much that it is almost non existent. It is better to stick to billboards if you want to market offline.
If you believe that your potential audience are newspapers readers, then using the medium for your adverts is a very good strategy. But if you're not sure, it's not a smart thing to do.
