How Long Should Your Copy Be?

It is Generally understood that a copy should be short. Shorter the better. But the question is how should your copy should be? Are a couple of words good for the copy, or should we write a couple of sentences. In case you are writing a longer copy, how long should be your copy?

I think audience connects better with visuals rather than written words or even spoken words. There, the copies should always kep short and the visual elements should be kept elaborate.

That's why it is said picture says thousand words. However, this does not mean words are useless in copies. Just like the visuals, you can also grab people's attention through catchy phrase and interesting one liners in the copies. The phrase "Just do it" is as memorable as the the check mark used for Nike logo

In response to your question, it depends on the platform and its purpose. For social media content, the ideal length is between 100 and 150 words. Make sure the title or headline captures attention and keeps it concise. For blog posts, aim for over 500 words.

Don't you think 100-150 words for a copy for social media platforms is too long. If you are writing long posts for social media, your post will be cut off and users have to click/tap on more to read the entire text. How many times you do it yourself? Well, I do not think people are interested in clicking more to read the entire copy

The length of your copy depends on the purpose. For ads or social media, short and punchy works best, but for blog posts or detailed guides, longer copy that provides value and depth is more effective.
