I have been working in a health sector for more than 10 years and currently, I am a health teacher for high school kids. I want to create a health blog where I share my expertise on this niche. Some of ny competitors are Mayo Clinic, Web MD, Healthline, etc. When I launch my website I would like to outrank these websites, how can I do that? Is it possible?

First of all, check what keywords they are ranking for, and then check the links on the search result page. Try to create a better content than your competitors. Then find reputed websites where you can build back links for your blog, make sure to get a lot of do follow backlinks.

You will not outrank them anytime soon :)

The YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) niches (medical plus finance) are extremely hard to rank in. You should focus on low-hanging fruits, keywords that have little search volume and build from there. Cluster them in topics and work your way to build a comprehensive list of articles, which are going to rank. While you can dominate some big keywords, you can still rank for smaller volume ones and they will add up to a decent traffic.

Dojo says it better. You need to focus on low search volume keywords. This will increase your search value and also build your authority. The best way to get a high rank is to niche down your keywords. When you niche down, you will be basically focusing on keywords that do not get a lot of search hist and lack enough content on the web.
