I know medical copywriting is not easy and it takes a lot of work to outrank competitors. What is your advice when it comes to writing content that's better than my competitors'?

Why should you rake your brain to write a compelling copy when you can do it easily by using Generative AI tool like ChatGPT. You can just write your prompt and generate 20-30 copies and the choose the ine you live and then you can spend a few more minutes to add human tough to the AI generated copy.

Not that easy, Koyala. Without a well-researched SEO brief and proper prompting, ChatGPT will never bring you traffic. With some luck, you can get your website deindexed.

One of my clients' main issue in the past 6 months was that they did have "thin" content or copywriters who just generate garbage with AI and HUNDREDS of their posts (which they have paid 50-100 bucks a piece) are getting deindexed).

So DO NOT use AI, unless you really do your homework and just ask it various questions to build the blog post.

This is a sample ranking for a blog post, with pristine SEO research, a super-good brief and some time for it to finally get properly ranked.

Which also shows you that SEO doesn't get you results in a day, it took around 3 months for this post to really go up.

So, for Sophia.

You start with the main topic you'd like to cover and then come up with the keyword people use when they search for it. Say you offer dental implants. Based on this there are various sub-topics you can tackle: "how much does a dental implant cost", "How long do teeth implants last", "
How painful is getting a dental implant" etc.

All these 3 are going to be SEPARATE blog posts, as the keywords have enough volume (so there are people who search for them monthly) and they are not impossible to rank.

Now it's a good idea to have a keyword research tool in your arsenal, so that you can find information such as "domain authority" or ranking. If you cannot yet dish out money for Ahrefs or Semrush (which you should, if you are really serious about SEO), at least create an account on moz.com and use the FREE Google Chrome or Mozilla Fireworks plugin. This will show you the DA (Domain Authority) of the websites you will research.

DA is a metric that shows you approximately how "strong" a backlink profile is for a certain website. It's a number up to 100, bigger numbers are better. While it's mainly an estimate and not fool-proof, it will allow you to strategize better and I'll explain now:

Say you have chosen to write about "How much does a dental implant cost".

When I do my content briefs and writing I use NeuronWriter. I don't use the AI part, just the research section.

Even if you don't use it, go to Google and look for your keyword: "how much does a dental implant cost". Look at the first 10 results and open each website in a separate tab. Look for:

1. DA - if you have the MOZ bar, you can see how big their number is. If a HUGE website (webmd, forbes etc.) is ranking, most of their time their content is not too good, but, since they are such authoritative, they can rank with "lorem ipsum". You will need to see what smaller websites (small DA) are in top 10. Those are not ranking based on how strong their domain is, they are ranking because of their HIGH QUALITY content.

2. Headings - write ALL of them down. If you want to do it easier, you can install the Detailed plugin. It's free and really good. Detailed was created by Glen Allsopp. He is one of the biggest guys in SEO and I have followed him for years. This is the link to his SEO extension: https://detailed.com/extension/. This would allow you to copy easier all the headings.

3. Content size - word count. If you think you can rank with 500 words, like we did years ago, not the case anymore. Now that you know how strong a website, you get a decent list of headings (sub-topics you will cover), look at the wordcount. You can see it with the Detailed plugin. If all top rankers have 700-800 words, you don't really need to break the bank with 4,000, unless, of course, you can really bring in more information and detail. If all the articles that are ranking in the top have over 2,000 words for instance, if you cannot at least match this level of detail, you will never rank. Especially those websites with small DA: if they did write a lot, well, you know what you have to do: get writing!

4. Look at People Also Ask in Google, maybe see Ask the Public, and of course the competitors. Create a thorough FAQ section.

Only now, with this content you created, that should knock out of the water all competition, with optimized images and a bit of promotion (social media at least), you can hope to actually rank that piece of content.

You can of course use AI but too much dependency on AI will create poor content. AI generated text are pretty detectable and search engines algorithm consider AI generated content to be spam. I have seen some people use AI tools to humanize AI generated content. I do not think this will also work because when you use AI to rewrite the content, it is still AI generated content.
